Earlier this month of July, the kids and family were all engaged in the several days of celebration involved in a typical indian wedding. It was Sejal Masi's and Bijel Masa's wedding and true to form, the kids spend a good week of attending family functions and wedding functions leading up to the big day. What this meant is that Syona went through several set of pretty pretties, while Baby Kyran had a few warddrobe get ups of his own (he put on his first suit jacket).
Every night there was a new costume lined up to be put on. Shilpa had to spend a days to plan out which garments to dress the family up in for which day. Unlike days without the kids, where Shilpa can just look into the closet to pick out her clothes (and mine), these days she has much more to plan for every time we have an outing to go to. Now imagine the work to do this 1 whole week of outings in a row. Good thing Syona and Kyran have so many nice uncles/aunts that pass their gently used hand me down dresses and warddrobes- this way Shilpa (and Syona) have a good selection to choose from. As for me, I guess I have to go back to settling on picking out my own attire as I've become lower on the rung - good thing for guys, it is easy to get ready, either just a suit or nice pants /long shirt. :)
On the day of the wedding, I had the fun task of getting the children dressed up. It's a different life when the majority of the day went by making sure everyone in the family have their nice indian clothes for the event. The coordination is to make sure that there is no accidental spit up or "other" stains, which I somehow managed in between the bangle coordination, hairpins and baths. The hard work really was in the planning though and I'm glad everything was labeled for my benefit or I wouldn't have had time to color coordinate Syona's bangles (yes I spent some time putting it together after syona went through putting all them on in whichever order she wanted) It was really fruitful to see the colorful the indian costumes on thought(thanks to Ba/Dadu/Masis and Masas) for getting these clothes together when they were in India. Got a few snaps of these in prior to the wedding.
What an amazing experience it was for us all and can't wait to see all the pictures at the actual event.
