Mother's Day weekend

Interestingly enough this year, mother's day fell on Sunday where it was exactly 1 month since Kyran's birthday! We had a good weekend where we started off with a family of four dinner out at HongFu. Then Syona helped baby Kyran and I pick out mothers' day card for mothers and grandmas alike. The next morning she helped draw and decorate these cards for Ba, Nai Nai, Bhabhi and Muma with her set of crayons/pens/stamps/stickers. She had a fun time doing this and, as her typical self, was very particular as to which pens to use on which card. On saturday afernoon, we had some dim sum with NaiNai, GouGou, and Uncle Roi and Kevin. Sunday was spent at Ba and Dadu's house over home cooked lunch and food testing dinner. On Monday, Syona's school has prepared a cute song performance with all the kids for mommy. The first song went "I love mommy, I love mommy, Yes i do." Syona had been home practicing for this event even before we knew it was happening. She would stand on the tables and start singing and have actions with her hands. On the day of the event, the funny thing is she was really shy and didn't want to perform since we were there. She stuck onto mommy like glue and with some coaxing finally stood in her row but looked down the whole time. haha. She had also made a cute mother's day card with her hand prints for mom and flowers out of cupcake wrappers and pipe cleaners.
While all this is going on, Kyran gets the family love from everyone he sees in between the sleeping, eating, burping, and pooping. What an exciting life.

4 Weeks today

Kyran is 4 weeks told today! He has recently gotten quite chubby, lots of love to love in one cute little package. He holds his head pretty good and has been smiling since 3 weeks if you can get him to focus on your eyes and make him laugh. We've noticed he's been awake a lot more in the day time, and he's sleeping a bit more soundly as well after each feed. I feel bad for the 2nd child though, it's true how they just get chucked around a little more as we take Syona to school and park, etc. I also fear Syona's horseplay  could hurt lil baby Kyran and am always saying be careful Syona, or no jumping or kicking. Poor lil baby Kyran, he will grow up to be one tough cookie though. At nights its kind of fun how we each have one we're taking care of. Paul usually does Syona's bath while I feed baby, change his diaper/clothes and hold him for a while. Then we switch and dada holds baby (as Syona often requests) and I spend some time with Syona reading Beaky Boo book, cuddling, tickling, brushing teeth and sleepy time routine. Sometimes dada takes over putting her to bed, that part is still tricky, we don't have it down to a science by any means yet.

Syona Bath Time

Here's a recent pic of Syona in her bath. For her 2nd birthday we had Ba and Masi get her some new bath toys to make bath time more interesting. Her favorite bath color is red bath, she has learned blue and yellow crayola tablets make green bath and she likes to lie down in the bath like a back float. Dada usually takes care of Syona's bath these days and even gets in and plays with her sometimes. She usually wants only dada to give her a bath :)

Syona and Kyran

I have to say, I couldn't be happier with how Syona is adjusting to her new brother. She loves him dearly and is so sweet and nurturing with him. Her favorite thing to say is "Don't worry little baby, it's OK. Don't cry Baby Kyran, I'll hold you." It's suuuuper cute. And she even says don't cry when he's not crying- haha. She runs to his side when he does cry and immediately starts patting his head or holding his hand. "Oh no, baby crying" she says. Even when she's watching Dora, she will get up to help muma change his diaper and want to wipe him or hand me the wipes. She's eager to hold him at least two times a day and help buckle him in his car seat. When we come home after an excursion, Paul asks should I take Syona out of the car first or Baby Kyran, and she says, take Baby Kyran out first. She's undoubtedly shaping up to be a good big sister and I look forward to the both of them spending a lifetime of kinship and friendship together. Here is a clip of the first night we brought Baby Kyran Home from the hospital. He was crying and Syona sang him twinkle twinkle little star.

And here are some pics of the two of them together. Ah, love it:
